"You’re great, Mona," Jack told her. "Still the devoted wife. Now I know why Ellen’s so

lap and hugged her. He looked very serious, like a man in love. "I was very much afraid
that you wouldn’t come back."
Mona’s eyes were brimming with tears. Though events at Ellen’s hadn’t given her much

time to think, she realized now how much she had missed her good-looking husband.
"Of course I was coming back, silly. You’re my husband… my man. Being away from
you for a while made me realize how much I love you… and need you. I know now how
unfair I’ve been to you."
Daniel’s face glowed with pleasure. "Tell you what. Why don’t we celebrate? I’m taking
you to El Gaucho tonight, and we’re going to eat a dinner fit for a king."
Mona squealed with delight. She felt like a kid again. "Oh, Daniel, that will be
wonderful. I can wear the new dress I bought while I was gone. I think you’ll like it. It’s

In the restaurant, they found a quiet corner where they ate a lavish meal by candlelight.

Both were pleasantly high by the time they returned to their car. Daniel pulled Mona
